Historical Background The Glendale Armenian Church of the Nazarene was founded in 1979. Its first worship service took place on July 29, 1979. Rev. Habib Alajaji was the founding pastor who pastored the Church for twenty-five years, until his decision to retire in December of 2004. After much prayer and search, the Lord directed the steps of a young, energetic, spirit filled, and musically talented pastor,
Rev. Hrag Karagoezian, to lead this active congregation.
The Glendale Armenian Church of the Nazarene is the first Armenian Evangelical Nazarene Church to be founded in the United States. At present there are two more Churches in California: One in Pasadena and one in Sun Valley. There is also an Armenian Nazarene Church in Toronto, Canada. There were 76 people present at its first meeting. Today the average attendance at the Sunday morning service is around 200.
We would like to extend a hearty welcome to you to come and visit us or worship the Lord with us if you are in the area. Besides the Sunday worship service we have Sunday School for all ages, mid-week Bible studies, Youth meetings, and other activities such as V.B.S., Summer Family Camp, Winter Youth Camp, Couples’ activities and etc. You will find more information about each of these under the links on this Home page.
